Advice on use and technical solutions

  1. Important information about tyres and wheel arches.
The details shown refer to the tyre sizes and standards required by ETRTO (European standards) and ASTM regulations, in force at the time of production. The products may not always be suitable for remould tyres and twin tyres with non-standard wheelbases. Special instructions given by the vehicle manufacturer for which the chains are destined to are to be strictly followed. There are different tread profiles for earthmoving machines (tyres L2, L3, L4, L5), so it is important to give an exact indication of the profile. If in doubt, please tell us the dimensions of the tyre, i.e. the width and the diameter (B" and "D" dimensions). For vehicles with a minimum space between the tyre and wheel arch, provide the exact indication of the “F” and “H” dimensions. For twin tyres, if the distance "R" is higher than normal, standard chains may no longer be suitable. If this is the case, distance "R" should also be stated.

  2. Self-cleaning
Weissenfels forestry ring chains (fixed or floating) are manufactured in such a way that the rings can move, thus avoiding the build-up of material between chain and wheel and ensuring constant grip.
  3. Recommendations for use.
To ensure optimal traction capacity, lateral grip and hold on any terrain, we recommend that your vehicle should be fitted with chains on all axles. On road-going transporters, trucks and forestry vehicles, on snowy, icy mountain roads, chains also need to be fitted to the steering axle and the second to last axle of the trailer, as well as on the traction axles.
  4. Using the chains on both sides
For optimal duration and performance, Weissenfels chains can be used on both sides, on all models where this is technically possible, as shown on each model.
  5. Components
WEISSENFELS chains have been designed for full application on all types of terrain, slope and with any vehicle power. Manufactured with short pitch chain links to facilitate tyre fitting, they combine high mechanical resistance with improved wear distribution, which significantly increases the working life of the chain. The application of reinforcement links, spikes and claws provides a high degree of traction, further increasing durability and resistance to wear. Weissenfels chains are made from special high-resistance steel, and undergo thermal treatment with computer-controlled casehardening, followed by strict quality checks.

Fixed Ring
Rings are fixed to the connection
links, recommended for steep slopes.
Excellent self-cleaning.
Floating Ring
Rings can move on the connection
links, making it easier to steer when
the chain is gripping. Optimal selfcleaning.
Studded
Wear-resistant welded spikes, also
suitable for very hard terrain.
Excellent grip capacity.

Ring - Forged system
Hexagonal element which ensures optimal grip and resistance to wear.
Suitable for medium to hard terrain.
"U"-shaped spikes and claws
Wear-resistant welded spikes and claws, recommended for steep slopes
and also for very hard terrain.
Reinforcement links
Wear-resistant reinforcement links
for advanced grip, recommended
for snow and ice.
